HDRF’s Eighth Annual 5K Race of Hope brought together more than 600 men, women, and children on Sunday, August 6th in Southampton Village in support of mental health awareness and research. The event raised over $323,000 for research into new and improved treatments for depression and anxiety.

On Friday, August 4, HDRF held its second annual Hope Summer Seminar in Southampton, with a discussion on “How to Talk to Friends and Family About Mental Health.” Acclaimed psychiatrist Dr. Samantha Boardman was the featured speaker along with Dr. Aliza Pressman, a developmental psychologist. The seminar was moderated by HDRF Founder Audrey Gruss. Hosted at the Southampton Arts Center, the HOPE Summer Seminar was a held in the lead-up to the eighth annual Race of Hope 5K to Defeat Depression on Sunday, August 6.

HDRF’s inaugural Teen Race of Hope united more than 275 teenagers and their family members, friends, and teachers on Sunday, May 21 at Pier 40, Hudson River Park. The goal of the event was to raise awareness about the crisis in youth mental health in the U.S. and fight the stigma that still surrounds mental health.
